I'm Randy Carr... I have had an interest in radio since age 7. I started out by listening to distant AM stations from my home in Detroit. I was amazed to hear stations in other states at night using an RCA clock radio (which I still have!). My interest in radio grew in Junior High and High School . In Junior High, I played music at lunch. I had one turntable and many popular 45's. In High School, it was music at dances I did the morning announcements. After high school I worked part time at several Detroit area radio stations. In 1973, I got my first full time radio job as Morning Drive host in Monroe, Michigan. I later worked on the air in Ypsilanti, Ann Arbor, and Detroit. My first radio job in Detroit was in 1978 at WCZY AM & FM. I was on overnights. After a year I was promoted to Production Manager. After working at several other Detroit radio stations, I went back to Ann Arbor to become operations Manager of WPZA/WAMX owned by Tom Monaghan. In 1988, two of my engineer friends suggested I should get into broadcast engineering. I took their advice and have been doing that ever since. I have done enginering work for WYCD, WNIC, W4/WDFN, WGPR, WKQI and WDRQ, all in Detroit. In 1999, I started at WBFH as Assistant Manager and Chief Engineer. I enjoy working with students, faculty, Pete Bowers, Ron Wittebols, and the Bloomfield Hills community. Click here for our complete program guide!Click here to return back to our staff page. |
